This map was first designed by me for the Darkest Hour: Europe 44-45 mod as a large scale tank battle correct to history details.  When designing this large scale tank battle between the Allies and Axis in the fields of France, i used real references such as Google maps for geometry, air reconnaissance photos to get the layout and objects such as towns, cross roads, farms in their correct locations.  The Darkest Hour team was dedicated to getting scenarios historically correct as possible so each level designer was given a historian/researcher that would collect as much material about that level as possible.
